Vanlife 101: How I Get Internet

This is a subject that has been talked about to death!! How to get internet when you live on the road. This is my solution.

There are many answers to this and every vanlifer you talk to you will tell you something different. That is because everyone needs to find what works for them.

This is what works for me.

I only am able to use my hotspot. Some of the work I do is sensitive and I can't use public wifi.

Like most of us, I spend a lot of time on the internet with work. I have 2 phones each with 50GB of hotspot. But I found myself going over the limit every month. After 50GB is used it slows down. Hate that little circle going round and round.

I ran into someone on the road who showed me his solution, which sounded perfect to me. It is a mobile hotspot with a booster. With it comes 100GB of hotspot. Now I have 200.

I think if I go over that I am watching too much Netflix.

Mine is a NETGEAR Nighthawk M5 5G Mobile Hotspot It works best with ATT and T-Mobile but I got mine "unlocked" so that I can use it with any service. It is more expensive that way so you can get one that isn't locked.:-)

I got the 5G for faster speed. This model is designed to use in a house. You can hook upPa 32 devices. I don't have 32 devices.

If my phone gets 3 bars of 5G, my Netgear will get at least 4 and maybe 5 bars. Working from my van this makes a big difference. I have wasted so much time with that stupid circle going around and around.

I have a pre-paid plan with ATT. It is 100 GB for $55. For me, this works best.

It is nothing complicated. Just works great for me.
